This paper examines the relationship between human capital and economic growth for Greece. We assume that the basic mechanism for human capital is education. Investigating the long- run relationship between educational variables and gross domestic product we found one cointegration relationship. Causality analysis showed that educational variables cause economic growth. The same result occurs for the public expenditures for education.
